Volunteer

Here at Austin Zoo, we gladly welcome volunteers to come by and do what they can to help out around the facility. If you are interested in helping Austin Zoo continue its mission, please contact us for a Volunteer Application, or download one below.  After completion, either email, fax, or mail it back to the zoo.

All volunteers must be 18 years old or over.

Animal Care Volunteer

Animal care volunteers assist our zookeeper staff with various tasks according to the volunteer’s level of animal care experience. Volunteers are restricted from contact with our primates, big cats, and bears. Contact with other animals is determined by the zookeeper staff on an individual basis. Experience is not required, but if you have worked with animals before, please attach a resume to your completed volunteer application detailing formal and informal animal care experience.

Group Volunteer Days

Call us and we can determine how your group might be able to help the zoo with some of our larger or most important initiatives. How we can have groups volunteer is determined according to each group, depending on ages of those involved, what they are looking to do, and when they would be available to volunteer. We can sure use help, so give us a call and let’s talk about it!
